When I first spotted these colourful vintage cereal sacks in northern Portugal I was immediately intrigued by their beauty. The devotion these fabrics were made with mesmerised me.

I decided to get some and transform them into one-of-a-kind cushions and poufs. Since then I’ve developed a healthy addiction to them. 

 

The stunning and extremely resistant linen and wool fabrics were spun, dyed and woven by women during the winter. Afterwards, the fabrics were sewn into sacks with impressively beautiful hand stitches. 

 

Some of the older bags are over a hundred years old and all of them were produced before the 1970s. Used at first as utilitarian harvest and storage sacks, they are now considered rare collectables. 

 

With a bit of luck you might find in our collection a set in different sizes. If not, don’t worry — we’ll do our best to produce the one you are dreaming of.
